Hello my friend, and welcome! My name is Maya, founder here at Nuuaria, and on behalf of myself and the entire team here at Nuuaria we hope that you’ve had a very Merry Christmas and everything else that you celebrate. Now in the spirit of ushering in the New Year and out with the gray-hair-inducing year of 2020. We want to give you a gift. That gift it is called the Alignment Exercise. That is the video you’re watching now, and in the next three to four videos that you’re going to get in your inbox.
Now, if whether you know Nuuaria or not what we uh ultimately, our programs and classes, quite literally help you to change your life by teaching them how to think differently.
Now, in order to think differently to change your life, or any area of your life you want to change, you have to be able to see certain things that were in your way. And that’s what the Alignment Exercise is going to do. The Alignment Exercise isn’t really the gift. What the gift we want to give you is, the gift of sight. Is the gift of seeing the pieces that you may not have seen, that will contribute to the achievement of something that you are wanting.
2020 gave us a lot of what I call contrast, a lot of ‘I know what I don’t want’ and ‘So now, here’s what I do want.’ And a lot of these got broken and a lot of things didn’t work and it’s going to help us move into different states of being different ways of thinking
Ultimately, potentially more stress-reduction, peace, contentment, and calm; if that’s your goal. So, in order to accomplish these things, there is not just your behaviors or your actions that are going to help you achieve permanent weight loss. It’s not just your behaviors or actions, that will help you achieve a state of peace, contentment, and calm, and stress reduction. There’s thoughts, and emotions, and other factors that play into this to create sustainability; to create permanence.
That’s what the Alignment Exercise is. It says if I want something in my new year, if I want something, or want to accomplish something in my life, and I want to make it last, it’s not just tips and tricks around behavior change and action change. It plays into all the pieces play into changing how you think and changing how you feel, to support what we call Total Alignment.
Okay, let’s dive in. So, I’ll give you two examples: the first example is going to be weight loss, and the second example is stress reduction. Which by the way, in the New Year, our signature weight-loss program is going to come with our stress and meditation course, at no additional cost. We’re accredited by the American Institute of Stress and these two are really well combined especially in the New Year. I think it’s very timely. So, let me give you an example, and if you like taking notes, this is an exercise, some of you may just watch this, and that’s okay too.
Here’s a high-level overview: My thoughts ultimately, largely, in part, create how I feel, or my emotions; my physical, which ultimately drives my actions, which create my life circumstance. This is very loose, but it is the alignment, is the methodology which we use here at Nuuaria, to help you create sustainable change.
What do I mean by that? Let’s say weight loss; you have weight on your body, you don’t want weight on your body. You eat all the sugar; you eat no sugar. This is old. This is new. So, if January first; I’ll be very cliche about this, if January first, I go from eating all the sugar in the world, to eating no sugar, well, yeah, I’m going to lose some weight.
But if my old, remember, this is old, if my old habit of thinking says ‘Well I’m going to do this in a very all-or-nothing fashion, I’m all in [or] I’m all out. Zero percent––one hundred percent. On a diet––off of a diet. Which most of us are, in many areas of our life. If you’re all-or-nothing in your thinking, I guarantee if you really take a look, if you really look, remember this is the gift of sight, if you really look, you’re going to see this in other areas of your life too.
So, all or nothing thinking, this is an old pattern of thought. I’ve always said in my own experience too, if you know my story, I have certainly been very overweight in my life. I have been on medications for anxiety and depression. I’ve been through burnout.
Umm . . .that’s why we do what we do here at Nuuaria, while we have the education, we also have the personal experience which is very important there’s something quite special and quite meaningful when you know that your mentor has been in your shoes and thought your thoughts and that’s what you can expect from us.
This new thought, of like fifty percent, in having known this myself––that’s difficult. It’s very easy to be all; it’s very easy to be nothing, but to be in the middle, that’s a lot harder. And we have to practice that fifty percent. Fifty percent says: in my actions, when I go to on a vacation, a holiday, or a family visit, no matter what, my actions are sustainable.
I’m not all in, and all out, and oscillating all of the time. When I change my thinking to fifty percent, life-long, head-in-the-long-term-game kind of thought, I will fail, but I can pick myself up and learn from this kind of thinking. This fifty percent thinking well, now that’s going to create total alignment and create sustainable and permanent weight loss
Let’s take stress. Stress is stress reduction, as another example. We are the stress-reduction programs in many corporations’ Everyday Mental Wellness, after 2020 I don’t think I need to say anymore, ha-ha, so habit of emotion––stress. Stress, frustration, anxiety, hopelessness, despair, depression, this is all a form of stress. Now, if my goal is stress reduction, I certainly have to define what this new emotion is. This new emotion, maybe, I want more peace, contentment, calm, joy, happiness; whatever those things are. So, this is the goal. Now, the goal isn’t necessarily life circumstance. Although it will touch life circumstance; knowing that if my goal is peace, contentment, and joy. Well, there’s thoughts, and there’s actions, and there’s a life circumstance I’m getting because of my stress.
Let’s say my stress is causing me to, I don’t know, stress eat, or have no patience in traffic, or blow up at my loved ones. those are the actions from stress. Well, a stress types of thoughts are going to be what’s going to cause what habits of mind or thought are going to cause stress; stress in the body. That could be catastrophic thinking, it could be obsessive thinking, overthinking, trying to control things I can’t control, telling stories that aren’t true, being a perfectionist, all of these types of habits of thought, while not all of them are bad, are going to cause some form of stress as an emotion. So, if I want to create stress reduction as a permanent state; number one, I have to define what kind of emotion I do want to feel habitually. Then I have to make sure that my thoughts align with stress, uh with peace with stress reduction. I have to make sure that I can measure it in my actions, and ultimately it will change the life circumstance.
So, the Alignment Exercise is a high-level overview, in the next video we’re going to thoughts, Mini-Brain Training, in the next video, emotions. What I want you to see here in this Alignment Exercise, is it helps you to see that whether I want to change my life’s life circumstance in the New Year
Whether I want to change my habit of emotion in the New Year, there are factors that play into this. And you’ll never achieve sustainable permanent change with oscillations. When they don’t match up when I have a balanced state of mind, when I that will make me feel patient uhhm, when I think differently, when my habits of thought, or not trying to control things I can’t control, rather accepting things that come my way, or looking at them in a different light, then it’s going to change my emotions, maybe patience or calm, that’s going to change my actions. I’m not going to blow up at my loved ones, or freak out in traffic, right?
Well, how is that going to change your life? And when it comes to say, weight loss? Well, if my head is in the long-term game, and I know that things are, life is a set of stepping-stones, that I learned from, and I implement, and test, measure, and course-correct along the way–– that there is no hard right, and hard wrong, hard fail, and hard success. When I live in the middle, then of course there’s going to be more peace, contentment, and calm. My behaviors, my actions, despite what I am in, can be much more aligned with what it is that I’m wanting.
So I want you to, this is the Alignment Exercise, and with this gift of sight, I want you to plug in what it is that you’re wanting, this is new so this is circumstance. Do you want something new in your life? Behaviors, some of you want to meditate more, some of you want to exercise more, right? This is a new behavior. some of you want more peace, contentment, calm, this one’s a little less known, it’s a little less seen by us, but this is where the permanence lies, because it’s at the foundation. It’s at the very end back here, so, when you pick out one thing that you are wanting in the New Year I want you to take a look at all of the surrounding components, and just for a moment ask yourself, play in your head for a second, and ask yourself : What are the supporting factors? what are the factors that would support total alignment, not knowing how am I going to do this? how am I going to get there? What are the factors that would support total alignment of what it is that I am wanting what emotions what behaviors how would my life look differently; how I think about this differently? In the next video tomorrow, I’ll go into just a tiny bit of brain training and give you some insight into what are what is the mind what are habits of thought and how do we begin to change them.
